Today, I coached a senior manager form the welfare-to-work sector in business writing skills. The session ran from 9am until 4pm and covered the following:
– The Essentials of a Well-Written Document
– Report Structures
– Preparation Strategies
– Measuring a Document for Readability
– Essential Grammatical ‘Rules’
– Punctuation Refresher
– Tips for Improving Spelling
The day culminated in a personal action-plan including a follow-up session to review a live business report.
Today, and for the next two-days, the managers-to-be that I’ve been coaching in people-skills over the past twelve-months will be put through their paces.
The client is using a series of case studies, an OtJ Project, knowledge tests, and a formal presentation (phew!) to see how much they’ve learned and put into practice.
Wishing them luck!
I spent the morning with one of our key-clients ‘walking through’ the forthcoming train-the-trainer event. The event will run on the 29th July 2010 at their UK Training Centre.
The one-day forum will cover the recently developed ‘Peter Honey’s Trainer Styles’ and we’re inviting all the Trainers from the Training and Development Centre (Technical, Sales, Management Skills and Apprentice Training).
It’s taken a lot of organising, but we’ve created an informative day that’s fun too!
